Should PNG reclaim ownership of their Kokoda Trail?

The recent opening of the DFAT funded ‘Kokoda Track Museum’ at the PNG National Museum and Art Gallery is a patronising insult to PNGs sovereign right to name their own geographic features.

The major influencer in the project is an American anthropologist, Dr. Andrew Connolly, who was engaged as Australia’s ‘National Military Heritage Advisor’ by the Australian High Commission via a process that could best be described as dodgy.
