Adventure Kokoda has led more than 8,000 trekkers on 700 expeditions safely across the Kokoda Trail ocer the past 34 years. Our trek leaders have a combined total of 160 military service which included Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. Our founder, Major Charlie Lynn was inducted as an Officer of the Logohu by the PNG Government in their New Year’s Honours List: ‘for service to the bilateral relations between Papua New Guinea and Australia and especially in the development of the Kokoda Trail and its honoured place in the history of both nations’ over the past
In 2018, Charlie was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his services to the Parliament of New South Wales between 1995 and 2015, and in 2025, he was one of the few foreign recipients of a King’s Medal by the PNG Government to commemorate their 50th Anniversary of Independence.
We have a permanent presence in PNG.
- We own our own office in Port Moresby.
- We employ a permanent PNG manager and lease a house for his family.
- We purchase all food for our treks from supermarkets in Port Moresby.
- We utilize the boutique Sanctuary Hotel which is owned by Papua New Guineans.
- We employ 180 guides and carriers from across the Trail.
- We are the only company to employ an equal number of guides and cariers from each village across the Trail on every trek to maximize the cultural immersion for our groups.
- We provide full trek uniforms along with sleeping bags and mats for guides and carriers, provide them with the same fresh ration scale as our trekkers, and their own medic on each of our treks.
- We provide Public Liabilitiy Insurance and Workers Compensation cover for each one.
- We own a small fleet of vehicles to support our operation.
